Mary or Maria Christina Johnson Nelson was born in Ryssby, Sweden and emigrated around 1870 to North America. She married Nels Truelson Nelson in Geneva, Kane County, Illinois. Together they had two children that survived: John Edward Nelson (6 July 1873-26 Sept. 1916) and Mary Amanda Nelson Malander (13 June 1875-28 August 1953). These two living children ended up in Belgrade, Nance County, Nebraska.
Mary died in childbirth and was buried along with two children she lost; Albert and Minnie. Family historians believe they were twin. They are buried in Oak Hill Cemetery.
