Mary Lou Marcum, 87, was welcomed to her new home by her King, passing away on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, TN.

She was born in Fleming, KY, lived in Elyria and Hamilton, OH, and had resided in Big Stone Gap since the mid 90’s. Mary Lou was an accountant for Wooldridge, Lesnick and Tubbs in Elyria, OH. She was a member of The Quilt Guild and a member of Blair Branch Old Regular Baptist Church in Jeremiah, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, G. W. “Bill” Marcum; son, Steven Marcum buried at the Lutie Cemetery, Wilburton, OK 64687134 ; great grandson, Ryan Wright; her brother, Don Adams; and two nephews.

Surviving are two daughters, Cindy (Larry) Phillips, and Alice Thomas; grandchildren, Lauren and Layne (Michael) Phillips-O’Connor, Erin Wright, Jacob (Paweena) Thomas, Keri Thomas, and Jared Thomas; three great grandchildren, Makayla Thomas, Jordan and Natalee Thomas; two sisters, Linda (Harold) Combs and Flo (Teddy) Galloway; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Elder Don Pratt, Elder James Caudill, Elder Toby Breeding, Elder Jim Fields and Elder Elwood Cornett.

Burial will follow at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.

Holding Funeral Home is serving Mrs. Marcum’s family.
