Larry Dale Hodges, 71 of Sweeny, TX passed from this life, Wednesday, June 20, 2018 in Houston, TX. He was born on October 26, 1946 in Conroe, TX to Charles and Thelma (Walker) Hodges. Larry grew up in Bayside, TX and went to school in Woodsboro, TX.
He attended Blinn College in Brenham, TX where he was a running back for the Blinn Buccaneers. After college, he went to work at Dow Chemical in Freeport, TX where he worked for 37 years as a pipefitter. He also married Rosemary Schubert, from Woodsboro, and they had four children – Shan, Amy, Wade and Erin.
Larry later married Carla Wears of Sweeny. Carla lost her loving husband on their anniversary.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia with Pastor John Price officiating. Visitation will be Monday, June25, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Sweeny Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are his sons Shan Hodges and Wade Hodges, sons-in-law Bruce King and Jamie DeWitt, and grandsons Nick King and Braden King. Honorary pallbearer is step-great grandson Kanaan Mooney.
Larry is survived by his wife, Carla Hodges; children, Shan Hodges, Amy King and husband Bruce, Wade Hodges, Erin DeWitt and husband Jamie; grandchildren, Nick King and wife Stephanie, Braden King and his girlfriend Emily Vandergust, Layla DeWitt and Landry “JJ” DeWitt; and great granddaughters, Carly and Carter King. He is also survived by step-children, Jessica Mooney and Tom Mooney; step-grandchildren, Ashley Mooney and Gavin Williams; and step-great-grandchildren Kanaan Mooney, Guage Coker, and Blaize Coker.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
