Mr. Shriver was born Nov. 20, 1878 in Virden, the son of Joseph and Triphena Shriver.
He attended the local schools and was graduated from the St. Louis School of Pharmacy.
After graduating, he was associated with his father in the drug store until his father's death in 1930 [sic]. He continued to operate the store which his father founded in 1868.
He was past president and charter member of the Virden Rotary club with a record of 28 years perfect attendance.
He was president of the Building & Loan association for the last 41 years, a member of the school board for many years, past president of the Virden Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Virden Presbyterian church and also served as a member of the building committee when the present building was built.
Surviving besides his wife, Bessie, are a brother, Charles, of Long Beach, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was brother-in-law of Mrs. S. T. Burnett, of 1501 S. Sixth St., Springfield.
The body was removed to the Berry funeral home, Virden. Funeral services were held at the Virden Presbyterian church.
Burial was in Virden cemetery.
