Marcia Brooks Lewis was born January 5, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio and passed away June 20, 2018 in Houston, Texas. Marcia is preceded in death by husbands Elliott H Levin and Dr Philip Lewis, parents Ida & Julius Brooks, Brother Allen S Brooks, and son-in-law Thomas S Turpie.
Survived by sister-in-law Lenore G Brooks, children Andrea Cook (husband Dan), Judith L Turpie, Stephen Lewis (wife Cynda), Ralph Levin Lewis, Mitchell Levin Lewis; grandchildren Jordan Elliott Lewis, wife Elizabeth, and Anna K Lewis (mother Cynthia Young); Lindsey Bozeman, husband David (mother Betsy S Lewis); Dr Julia E Lewis and Erica Marcia Lewis (mother Judith Ann Lewis); and David S Turpie as well as 6 great grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who loved her.
Marcia was one of the first US Navy WAVES, joining early in WWII. She was Wonder Woman, Emily Post and Gloria Steinham combined, and a role model of strength loved and admired by all who knew her.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 24, 2018 at 2:30 pm Kagan-Rudy Chapel at Emanu El Memorial Park, 8341 Bissonnet Street, Houston, Texas 77074.
