Anita Lea (Cottrell) Baker was born August 28, 1941 and journeyed to Heaven June 18, 2018 at the age of 76 to join her beloved husband John Carl Baker. Anita was very loving and joyful as she loved life. She had a hug and smile for everyone. Never met a stranger and she remembered everyone. She not only enjoyed life, but wanted to make sure others enjoyed life as well. To her everyone deserved to be loved and accepted.
Anita began her accounting career at a law firm. She was self taught learning the accounting industry. She went on to work for Tom’s Markets and Happy Foods in the accounting department. In an entrepreneurial spirit she began her own Accounting and Tax business, Acts Tax Service in her home. As her clientele grew she later moved the business to a store front in Del City and eventually to Midwest City. For over 40 years she opened her doors of her business as a mission field to love, restore and rescue the soul of others.
Anita also joined John in opening their own bail bonding business, Mid-Del Bonding. They continued to use this business as another avenue to council and help many people. She also participated in helping develop the Oklahoma Bail Bonding School and helped to change the bail bond industry by actively working with legislation to change laws. She assisted teaching business ethics and accounting at the professional bail bondsman schools.
Anita and John were life time charter members of First Southern Baptist Church. They have attended there for over 50 years. They were very involved in Evangelism Explosion, where they learned to council others. They were leaders of the single adults department in the church. They opened their home every Sunday to entertain and feed many college students. They were very generous with their own time, money and home to always be serving others.
Anita was a loving mother to Rhonda Abshier, Dawn Chrisostom, Darlene Baker-Mann and Danelle Baker. She was Grandmother to her 11 surviving grandchildren and great-grandchildren and Aunt Anita to many adored nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her loving brothers; Ken, Keith and Kerry Cottrell and their wives.
Anita never knew a stranger and was tender and loving to everyone that she encountered. Her life permeated joy and unconditional love. She adored her Lord and Savior.
