Lafayette – Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at South College Church of Christ for Mrs. Yolanda “Yogi” Marie Dyes Henderson who passed away June 16, 2018 at 1:53 am at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia due to a brief illness.

Services will be officiated by Brother Otha Smith of Rolls Royce Church of Christ of Lafayette, LA.

Interment will be in the Breaux Bridge Church of Christ Cemetery in Breaux Bridge, LA.

Yolanda Marie (Dyes) Henderson was born on November 8, 1968 to proud parents, Moses Dyes, Jr. and Nella Beatrice (Decuir) Dyes. She was born and reared in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana where she was educated in the St. Martinsville Parish schools, graduating from Breaux Bridge High School in 1986. Yolanda attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana, Perimeter College in Atlanta for Nursing and Legal Secretary. She found her love in the legal field thus attended PCDI (School of Arts/Science) where she obtained an Associate Degree in Paralegal. In 1989, she married Torien D. Henderson, Sr. and had two sons, Torien D. Henderson, Jr. and Tyron I. Henderson and enjoyed being a grandmother to her grandson, Montrez Henderson. She really enjoyed helping others and as a result chose the legal profession and served as a paralegal for law firms for many years in Atlanta, Georgia. Yolanda dedicated her life to Christ in 1976 at Breaux Bridge Church of Christ in Louisiana and continued to steadfastly serve the Lord at Moreland Avenue Church of Christ and Bouldercrest Church of Christ during her residency in Atlanta, Georgia for the past 30 years. She impacted many lives through her melodious acapella singing and well- timed issuance of words of wisdom and encouragement.

She leaves her loved ones with unforgettable memories and God’s abiding love: survived by her husband, Torien Henderson, Sr., two sons, Torien Henderson, Jr. and Tyron Henderson, one grandson, Montrez Henderson, all of Atlanta, Georgia;parents, Moses and Nella Dyes of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; two sisters, Amanda (Jeffrey) Dyes-Browning of Atlanta, Georgia and Prudence (Ronald) Girourard, Sr. of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana; three uncles, Harry Decuir (Lisa) and James Asberry, all of Houston, Texas and Willie Dyes of New Iberia, Louisiana; one aunt, Helen Mitchell of New Iberia, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Yolanda was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Harry Decuir and Myrtle Decuir Watts; her paternal grandparents, Moses Dyes, Sr. and Anna Mae Dyes; her maternal uncles, Bobby Decuir and Charles Decuir, her maternal aunts, Delores (Floyd) Worley, Joyce Mae (Sherman) Veal, Diane Asberry,and Myrtle Francis; her paternal uncle, Robert Mitchell; her paternal aunt, Willia Solomon.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 23, 2018 at South College Church of Christ from 10:30 a.m. until time of service.
