Mrs. Louise Steele Rites on Tuesday
Dies after a Year-long Illness in Colorado; Burial in Cemetery Here
Funeral services for Mrs. Louise L. Steele, 40, of Wheatridge, Colo., a former Remsen resident who died unexpectedly Friday night, [Jan. 13, 1956], in her Wheatridge home, were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church here Tuesday morning, [Jan. 17, 1956], at 9:30.
Burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery under the direction of the Fisch funeral home, Rev. George Theobald, pastor, officiated.
Mrs. Steele, the former Louise Waldschmidt [Waldschmitt], daughter of John and the late Bernadine Waldschmidt [Waldschmitt], was born April 21, 1915. She attended school here at St. Mary’s.
On February 14, 1911, she was united in marriage to Leon Steele at St. Mary’s church here. They had lived in Colorado for the past 10 years.
Survivors besides the widower and father are four children, Jeanine 10, Patricia 8, Roger 5, and Janice, 3, two sisters: Mrs. Al (Ottilia) Diekmann of Long Beach, Calif. and Mrs. John (Mary) Freking of Remsen, three brothers, John Jr. of Le Mars and Paul and Ray of Remsen. She was preceded in death by her mother, two brothers Michael and Louis, her twin.
Pallbearers were Myrle Truesdale, Don Zenk, Paul Wingert, Isidore Harpenau, Greg Freking and Marvin Kolbeck.
