Sunset ~ Verna Pearl Brooks, 89, a homemaker, went to be with our Lord Sunday, June 18, 2018 in Decatur.

Graveside service is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Sunset Cemetery. Family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the cemetery.

Rev. Fred Raney will officiate.

Verna was born on October 28, 1928 to Benjamin Edward and Johnnie (Cook) Tayler(Taylor) in Knox County, Texas. She was united in marriage to James L. Brooks on March 25, 1953 in Big Springs.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Brooks; 5 brothers; and 1 sister.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her son, Lon Brooks and wife Donna of Texarkana; her daughter, Mischelle Ankerson of Raleigh, North Carolina; 8 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; numerous great great grandchildren; her sister, Sue Brockett of Carmi, Illinois; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
