James Edward "Pat Taylor
Nov 12, 1909- May16, 2001

James Edward "Pat" Taylor, age 91, of Goree, Texas, died May 16, 2001 in Munday, Texas. Services wereheld Friday, May 18, at Vera Baptist Church officiated by Reverend Royce Denton. Burial was in the Vera Cemetery, Vera, Texas, under the direction of the Archer Funeral Home, Seymour, TX.

Pat Taylor was born November 12, 1909 in Vera, Texas to Benjamin Eugene and Johnny B ( Cook) Taylor. He was a retired fence builder. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 62 years, Lillie Odessa (Hollabaugh) Taylor on Nov 15, 1987. They married July 14, 1925.

Pat managed to live alone after Lillie passed in 1987, until recently. His daughter, Charlotte Struck of Wichita Falls, TX, would visit him regularly. She would carry him to Seymour to get groceries, haircut, doctor appointments , and other things he needed to do. They would always enjoy an hamburger at the Dairy Queen. She always saw that he got to send out Christmas cards to family by addressing his envelopes. He always signed his name on the card. I looked forward to receiving my card at Christmas. It had a special meaning to me. His son, J. E. (Junior to our family) also was able to help his daddy more in the last few years. He helped Pat do animal trappings right after Lillie died. They sold enough pelts for Pat to pay for a marker for his and Lillie's grave.

My mother, husband and I visited Uncle Pat in July, 1992. We had such a refreshing nice visit. He was dressed in his traditional overalls. He shared delightful stories with us. I cherish the visit we had that evening.

Pat is survived by: two sons, James Edward, Jr. of Bowie, Texas and Eugene Taylor (Betty) of Rockwall, Texas; three daughters, Francis (M. G.) Long of Hon, Arkansas, Lena Charlotte Struck of Wichita Falls, Texas, Dorothy (Terry) Sanders, Boles, Arkansas; two brothers, Benjamin Leo "Pete" Taylor of Spanish Fort,Utah and Wiley Taylor of Longview, Texas; three sisters Lynn Roden Fowler of Colorado, Pearl Brooks of Sunset, Texas, Sue Brockett, of Carmi, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-grand -children and ten great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Pat is preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Odessa Taylor,; daughter, Lillie Patricia Taylor; grandsons, Stephen Taylor Jenkins and Donald Douglas Jenkins; his parents Benjamin Eugene and Johnny (Cook) Taylor; several siblings and half siblings.
