Frank A. Swanson, 64, of Fort Dodge, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Grindberg officiating. The visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Frank is survived by his wife Karen; his children, Mary (Gary) Cothran, Virginia; Mike (Tina) Swanson, Fort Dodge; five grandchildren, Jacob and Courtney Cothran and Joshua, Nicholas and Kristin Swanson; his brother Denny Swanson, his sisters, Cathy Vinson and Bobbie Hardgrove; and his father-in-law Arthur Edwards, all of Fort Dodge. He was preceded in death by his son Charles Andrew Swanson, his parents and his mother-in-law Beverly Edwards.

Frank Andrew Swanson, the son of LaVerne and Rose (Falco) Swanson, was born April 11, 1943, in Fort Dodge. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. Frank served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963. On Aug. 1, 1964, Frank was united in marriage to Karen Edwards in Fort Dodge. Frank was employed with National Gypsum for 24 years where he was a supervisor. He also worked for Fort Dodge Animal Health for 11 years before retiring in 2002.

Frank was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church. He served as Financial Secretary for the American Legion Post and enjoyed golf and darts. His passion was fishing and he was interviewed for and published in "Catfish Insider" and "Iowa Game & Fish" magazines. Frank dearly loved his grandchildren and he was known for his ability in making friends.
