August "Cast" Armelin, 99, of Roseto, PA, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2018, at his residence, surrounded by his family. August was born in Stockertown, PA, on Nov. 21, 1918, a son of the late Mansueto and Clementina (Maset) Armelin. He was the husband of Josephine J. "Josie" (Todora) Armelin. They celebrated their 11th wedding anniversary on April 14th.

Cast was last employed as a plumber for Renaldo Plumbing in Bangor, PA, until retiring in 1983. Prior to that, Cast was employed as an auto mechanic at Dotta Auto Sales and also was employed by the Roseto Sewer Authority.

Cast enjoyed gardening, dancing, playing cards and playing bingo at the Slate Belt Senior Center. He was also an avid Phillies and Eagles fan. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, in the 3457th Ordnance M.A.M. Co. While serving in the Army, Cast was General George Patton's main Jeep mechanic and had the honor of holding his ivory-handled pistol. He was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Roseto, PA, where he was a member of the Holy Name Society, and helped with the annual "Big Time Celebration" at the church. He was also a member of the Martocci-Capobianco American Legion Post 750 in Roseto.

In addition to his wife, Josie, Cast is survived by a daughter, Carol McMahon, wife of Richard; two sons, David Armelin, husband of Linda, and Robert Armelin and his partner, Jason Golla; two step-daughters, Lory Sepp and Christine Schreck, wife of Stanley; and three stepsons, Daniel DePalma, husband of Pamela; Joseph and Anthony DePalma. He also leaves three grandchildren, Aaron Armelin, husband of Ashley; Rachael Lacey, wife of Brad, and Joel Armelin, husband of Edil; eight step-grandchildren, Jeffrey DePalma, husband of Tabitha; Andrea, Christopher, Danielle, Chad, and Mary DePalma, Mark McMahon, husband of Karin, and Mauree McMahon, wife of Patrick; five great-grandchildren, 13 step-great-grandchildren and two step- great-great-grandchildren. Cast was preceded in death by his first wife, Rose (Renaldo) Armelin, who passed away in 2002. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Anthony, Peter and Mario Armelin, and three sisters, Kathryn Finn, Mary Bozzuto, and Anna Malone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Third & Garibaldi Aves., Roseto, PA. Family and friends are invited to call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at Samuel A. Campanaro Funeral Home, 841 Slate Belt Blvd., Bangor, PA. Burial will be held at New Catholic Cemetery, Roseto, PA.
