Rosemary (Stottlemyer) Underwood, 89, of Lafayette, joined the Lord on June 13, 2018 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Catherine and Herbert Stottlemyer in Anderson, Indiana. Rosemary graduated from Roosevelt Grade School for the first eight grades of her educational career, followed by Pendleton High School in 1946, and St. John's Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Anderson, Indiana in September of 1949. She completed Hospice Training at St. Elizabeth Hospital and helped patients in their homes. She was proud to be a Registered Nurse and especially enjoyed her time working at Home Hospital as well as working as a pediatric nurse for Dr. Jack Burns.

Rosemary married her husband, Dr. George Underwood, on June 17, 1951. They had three children, Gregory, born on January 17, 1955, Michael Lee, born on March 13, 1957, and Beth Ann, born on October 7, 1958. Anyone who knew Rosemary, knew how proud she was of her family and that family was her greatest accomplishment. Her sons, Gregory and Michael, preceded her in death and are rejoicing that their mother is in heaven with them now. Beth Ann married William Compton (Zionsville), and had two children, Cory Michael, and Brooke Ann. Brooke married Patrick Sorgen and had a baby born just last year, Isla Rose, whose middle name is in honor of her. She also has many nieces and nephews.

Besides being a fantastic wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Rosemary's generosity was felt by many in the community. Everyone she met loved her because of her big heart and the genuine care she had for others. Among her numerous volunteer activities were Meals on Wheels, donating her time at retirement and assisted living facilities both at Rosewalk in Lafayette, and even at a facility in Naples, Florida while on vacation. Rosemary also loved working the desk at Central Presbyterian Church Sunday mornings. Rosemary was a life member of Home Hospital Auxiliary, Jeff Booster Club, Golden Broncho Club, and John Purdue Club. Rosemary also spent some time flying - as a pilot, when she soloed in a Cessna 172 plane in 1958. She was also an avid golfer for some time.

In addition to her beloved sons and parents, Rosemary joins her brothers, Herbert Lee and Carroll Stottlemyer, and sister, Carolyn Lawyer, in Heaven.

Rosemary's family had a private funeral. Her Celebration of Life is open to all who wish to memorialize Rosemary's full, blessed life on Saturday, June 23 at Central Presbyterian Church at 2:00. Her family will be there before and after the celebration to converse about Rosemary, the incredible person who we will all miss dearly.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rosemary's memory to Central Presbyterian Church Whistel Fund, Westminster Foundation, or charity of your choice.

Arrangements entrusted to TMG Funeral & Cremation Services, West Lafayette.
