Dorothy Jean "Dottie" Wilbur, 89, of Fremont, NE died Friday, December 15, 2017 at Edgewood Vista in Fremont, NE. Dorothy was born March 22, 1928 in Verdigre, NE to Joseph J. and Augusta H. (Block) Somer.
She grew up in Verdigre and attended school there. Dorothy married Delain Wilbur on October 30, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. She worked as a waitress at Larry’s Café and Marcie's Café.
She was a member of FO Eagles Auxiliary #200 in Fremont, life member of Fremont VFW Auxiliary and belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church in Fremont. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, camping, motorcycle riding, watching Lawrence Welk on TV, playing cards, being a housewife and she loved to bake.
She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Delain Wilbur of Fremont; son, Brett (Amy) Wilbur of Fremont; daughters, Diana (Mike) Micek of Ames, NE, Nancy (James) Waage of Fremont, Pamela (Ken) Johnson of Cedar Bluffs, NE and Jacquie (Craig) Miller of Beatrice, NE; nine grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Jimmy Waage; two brothers, Bernard and Benjamin Somer and two sisters, Iola Belak and Irene Schultz; and grandson, baby boy Buresh.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM, Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Moser Memorial Chapel in Fremont, NE. The Rev. Scott Jensen will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5PM to 7PM at Moser Memorial Chapel and one prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont.
