Born William David Drew. Billy was the twelfth child born to Jim and Bessie Drew.
In 1947 the family bought a farm house directly across the street from the high school. Billy went to school with his two older cousins Juanita and Geneva Bostick. During his school years the girls would constantly harass him and call him Uncle Billy especially around his friends.
Billy graduated from Bangs High School in 1950.
