Evelyn Fare Watson, age 86, of Fairway Acres Circle, Lenoir, died Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born March 17, 1921, in Forsythe County to the late William Walter and Elizabeth Sides Fare. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, James William Bill Watson, Sr.; and one sister, Mrs. J.C. (Margie) Hunnicutt.
Mrs. Watson was owner and operator of Watson's Florist and Bridal Shop in Hudson. She was a founding member of Central Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, James William Billy Watson, Jr. and wife Dana of Lenoir; two daughters, Mrs. Gayle Coffey and husband Barry and Ms. Pamela W. Lackey, both of Lenoir; two brothers, Clarence D. Don Fare and wife Joyce of Sawmills and Joseph S. Joe Fare and wife Marie of Fayetteville; one sister, Mrs. Howard Willie Sumlin of Lenoir; two grandchildren, Mrs. Melissa L. Hefner and husband Gregory of Monroe and Dr. Tonya Coffey and husband Dr. Christopher Thaxton of Boone; and one great-grandchild, Nicholas James Thaxton of Boone.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church conducted by Rev. John M. Jernigan. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dudley Nelson, Thomas Watson, Jerry Setzer, David Bush, Barry Coffey and Dr. Christopher Thaxton.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Alice Steele's Sunday School Class.
