Jennifer Lynn Poteet Mullins
June 7, 2018

Big Stone Gap, VA -Jennifer Lynn Poteet Mullins died peacefully at her home, among her loving family, on Thursday, June 7, 2018.

Since her diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma in 2013, she celebrated the life she wanted, traveling as often as she could and dancing at every opportunity available. She made sure that all who loved her knew how much that love was returned. An accomplished writer, Jennifer will live forever through her beautiful fiction. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Matron.

Jenny was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and William (Bill) Poteet of Appalachia, VA.

She is survived by her husband, Leroy Mullins of Big Stone Gap, VA; her sisters, Libby Barton (Greg) of Lancaster, SC, and Amy Poteet (Sam Weaver) of Garden City, KS; her brothers Dr. Mark Poteet (Keith Donnelly) of Pittsburgh, PA, and Matthew Poteet (Johnny Mumpower) of Big Stone Gap, VA; her precious nephew and niece, Will Rose of Manassas, VA and Mia Weaver of Lexington, KY; her stepdaughters Dawn Adams (Mark) of Coeburn, VA and Christy Mullins of Wise, VA, and her stepson Michael Mullins of Wise, VA; and her lifelong very best friends Deborah and David Lane of Big Stone Gap, VA.

She and our whole family give a heartfelt thanks to her precious hospice nurse, Hope, and all the wonderful people at the Norton Cancer Center. So many people loved her and took such good care of her during this difficult time, especially her precious husband.

We were all blessed by Jenny being in our lives, and we’ll miss her forever. What she would most want of all who loved her is that we be kind to one another; we let go of petty, irrelevant frustrations and problems; we travel and enjoy the world we are part of; and we dance whenever the music is playing.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at 2:00pm in Powell Valley Memorial Gardens.

Gilliam Funeral Home & Crematory is honored to serve the family of Jennifer Mullins.
