Appearing in the Richmond Enquirer, 26 Jan 1850:
DIED at his residence in the county of Halifax, on Friday, the 25th of January, Capt. HENRY C. MOON, leaving a wife and eight children to mourn their loss. Capt. Moon was a good citizen, kind neighbor, and affectionate husband and father. He has left behind many relatives and friends, who will long remember his kindness and friendship. His sickness was of short duration; in the prime of his life he is cut down by that fell destroyer death, and summoned before that great tribunal of that God, before whom you and I, reader, will shortly appear. It was the work of the Lord, and whatsoever he doeth is right.

Henry is the son of William C. Moon and Eunice Jones Moon, of Charlotte County, Virginia; brother of Betsy, Patrick, Martha, Sophia, Parham (aka Perry) and Nancy; husband of Gemima G. Bailey; father of Ransom, Robert, Patrick, Eliza, Mary, Walter, Frances, Mary Moon Easley and Andrew.
