Lauren McCoy, 46, a highly regarded resident of Elroy, passed away at the St. Joseph Memorial Hospital at Hillsboro Monday afternoon, May 13, 1957 after a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the Mueller Funeral Chapel at Elroy,. The Rev. Frank L. Tomenendale, pastor of the congregational church officiated at the rites. Burial was in the city cemetery.

Lauren Stanley McCoy was born April 27, 1911 at Valley, Wisconsin, in Vernon County, the son of John and Mary Caucutt McCoy and grew up in that community. He was united in marriage to Albena Marcella Vitcenda on March 25, 1933, after which they made their home on the Rudolph Vitcenda farm near Valley until 1947 when they moved to a farm near Kendall. In 1954 they moved to the farm they presently own near Elroy.

He served on the school board at the Morning Star School, LaFarge, and was a member of the Knights of Pythias Lodge No. 182 at Ontario for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Albena McCoy; one daughter, Mrs. Carl Knoll; his mother, Mrs. Mary McCoy, LaFarge; three brothers: Bernard, Yuba; Orlan, LaFarge; James, LaFarge; two sisters: Charlotte, Mrs. Elmer Smith, LaFarge; Gladys, Mrs. Verlyn Clark, Ashland; and two grandchildren, Carol and David Knoll; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mrs. And Mrs. Rudolph Vitcenda, Elroy, and a host of relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, John G. McCoy.
