Edna Jean Boyd Longtime resident of Ponca City passed away peacefully Saturday June 2, 2018 at Creekside Village in Ponca City, OK at the age of 81.

Funeral Services: Wednesday June 6, 2018 at Eastern Heights Christian Church with Pastor Mark Berry officiating.
Burial: Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery with arrangements under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

The family has requested any memorial contributions be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma 445 Fairview, Ponca City, OK 74601.

Edna as born March 7, 1937 in Maramec, OK the daughter of Orville and Opal Simmons. She received her education at the Quay school in Quay, OK. She married Gerald Boyd on August 1, 1954 and they moved to Austin, TX where Gerald was stationed with the Air Force. Once Gerald was discharged they moved back to Oklahoma and lived in several towns before moving permanently to Ponca City in 1955. A dear friend invited Edna to visit First Church of God soon after. She was a dedicated member for 55 years. After Gerald passed away in 2013 she became a member of Eastern Heights Christian Church and her life group was very special to her. Edna loved being a homemaker. She had one job outside the home which was the Ponca City Maintenance Secretary for 8 years. After retirement she worked side by side with her husband taking care of their cattle and farming. She enjoyed riding horses especially in parades with her American Flag, raising cattle and baking pies. Most importantly she loved her savior Jesus Christ and her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, parents and brother Harvey Simmons and sister Viola Bowen.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and Creekside Village Assisted Living. Edna loved everyone that helped take care of her. They all became her very special friends.
