The Sims Cemetery was flooded between 1965, when the project was begun to create the Brookville Reservoir/Lake and 1975, and the tombstones (obviously not 120-year-old human remains) were moved to New Fairfield Cemetery in adjacent Franklin Co, IN. This is obviously not an 1843 stone. The star recognizes William Sims' service in the Revolutionary War.
Private in Capt Andrew Wallaces CO 12th Virginia Regt. Enlisted March 1,1777 for 3 years Transfered to Lt.Col. William Heths CO 3rd and 7th Virginia Regt. in June 1778 and to Capt Henry Youngs CO. 8th and 11 Virginia Regt. in May 1779 appointed Sergeant Feb 16,1778. Signed the Hanover Petition in Virginia in 1783. Was at Valley Forge
