Married Carl W. Powell August 23, 1957 in Dallas, TX. He survives.
Also surviving are children Wayne (Marsha), Gene (Deanna) and Richard (Mary) Powell, Valarie (Terry) England and Nancy (Edward) Franklin; siblings Bob (Marilyn) and Fred (Dianne) McAllister; 5 granddaughters and 12 grandsons; and 48 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Roberta Jo “Robbie” Brown, and brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Joyce McAllister.
Attended Petersburg (IL) schools.
JoAnn was a waitress at Mike’s Colonial Parkway, Pat’s Pit Stop, Maple Corner, Highland Court, 76 Truck Stop and was a manager at DTL in Veedersburg. She was also a caregiver and had worked at the Covington County Home.
She enjoyed playing the piano and was self taught, loved visiting with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. cooking and making candy (peanut brittle was her specialty), her flowers and loved to sing in church.
Service 4pm Monday, June 11 at Dickerson Funeral Home in Veedersburg, with Minister Gary Johnson officiating.
Visitation 2pm until time of service.
