Elizabeth Dale Gregory passed away on November 20, 2016. Libby was of the Baptist faith and had a strong relationship with God. She was an avid country music fan and loved Conway Twitty. Even though she never married or had children of her own, she was a wonderful mother to her brother's children. When she was in her twenties, she stepped up and helped feed, clothe and care for four children, ranging in ages from 8 months old to 4 years old, who had lost their own mother. She spent her life helping others and she will be rewarded in heaven for her kindness here on earth. Libby resided in Bluefield, WV her entire life.
She was born on May 26, 1942, at her great grandmother's home in Bluefield, WV, to the late Myrtle Holt-Gregory-Pennington (Deceased) and Charlie Jack Gregory (Deceased). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Charles Okey Pennington (Deceased); her brother Charles Henry Gregory (1944-2016); her sister-in-law, Diana Gayle Dinger-Gregory (1947-Deceased); her nephew, Richard Allen Gregory (1967-1990); and her aunts, Stella Compton (Deceased), Mamie Smith (Deceased) and Betty Hambrick (Deceased).
Survivors include her aunt, Ruby Compton of Nemours; the children she treated as her own, Rebecca Gregory of Bluefield; Charles Lane Gregory of Lindside; and Tammy Gregory-Tabor of Bluefield; her sister-in-law, Alice Rotan-Gregory (1949-2018) of Bluefield; her niece, Donna Edwards of Bluefield; and many great nieces and nephews who all loved her and have fond memories of the times they spent with her.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Gary Pennington and Rev. Don Compton officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
