In 1842 William moved his family to Wisconsin. He was one of the founders of Boydtown, Robert Boyd was the only one there before him, Robert married Williams daughter Elizabeth.
William and Jonathan Wayne effected the settlement of Marietta, Crawford Co., Wisconsin. They were the earliest settlers. Williams son George Wayne was the first white child born there.
The first religious services held in Boydtown were conducted at the house of William Wayne.
William died in 1851. He had been married three times, he had six sons and six daughters. He was an early pioneer who died at the age of 49.
I have found no proof of his death and no headstone. None for any of his wives. I am assuming he would of been buried in Boydtown or Marietta.
