He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp., was a member of Charlton United Methodist Church, Lower Paxton Twp., and former chief of Citizens Fire Company No. 1, Highspire.
Surviving are his wife, Helen M. Sherriff Shields; two sons, Kenneth J. and Benjamin S. III, both of Lower Paxton Twp.; a daughter, Barbara M. Youtz of Mount Gretna; his mother, Vera L. Shields of Highspire; three brothers, Robert E. and Donald L., both of Highspire, and Jim W. of Arizona; a sister, Vera Friet of Middletown; and five grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Knight Funeral Home, Highspire.
Burial will be in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.
Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
