Early Life: Stan was born December 31, 1936, to William Robert Ward and Vola Larsen Ward, the seventh of nine children. He grew up in Cleveland, Utah.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: Stan enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1954. Shortly after enlisting, he married the love of his life, Irene Day. The two were blessed with one son, who died at birth, and three beautiful daughters. Stan and Irene were married August 16, 1955; they were later sealed in the Mount Timpanogos Utah Temple in 2007. Stan served his country for 20 years in the Air Force as an aircraft mechanic. He served in Vietnam as a crew chief and mechanic on B52 bombers and achieved the rank of Technical Sergeant. Stan and his family were stationed at many different bases during his tenure in the service, with his favorites being Ellsworth Air Force Base among the South Dakota Black Hills, and Barksdale Air Force Base where he was made an Honorary Girl Scout. He loved being a Girl Scout! After retiring from the Air Force, Stan continued his service to his country as a civil service worker at Hill Air Force Base where he was an aircraft mechanic for 20 years. Stan was and will always be a true American hero, loving God, country and his family. Stan was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching football and basketball. San Francisco 49ers and BYU Cougars were among his favorites. He was a faithful follower of the Utah Jazz and no matter how good or bad they did, they were his team. Stanley R. "Stan" Ward, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather, entered the loving embrace of our Savior Jesus Christ on June 2, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. He was 81.
Survived By: His beautiful wife of 63 years, Irene; his daughters: Renee (John) Schoch, Anna (Lowell) Manwell, Carrie Morgan; his grandchildren: Chevon (Jason) Atkinson, Kristyl (Jonathan) Harrison, Tyson Manwell, Alyshia (Stephen) Fritzges, Amber (Joseph) Mayhew, Jeremiah Heaton, Colton Heaton and Cheyenne Heaton; his great grandchildren: Shelbie Bullock, Kasie Bullock, Jason R Atkinson, Seth Atkinson, Madysen Atkinson, Zayden Harrison, Lucas Fritzges, Lizzie Fritzges, Reegan Fritzges, Tayvia Mayhew, Dallyn Mayhew, Acelynn Mayhew; and his great great granddaughter, Kylie Asay.
Preceded In Death By: His son, William Robert Ward; his loving parents; his brothers and sisters; and two sons-in-law.
