August 16, 2004 George R. Ashby, 49, of Riverscape Apartments, Fulton, died Monday. He was a life resident of Fulton. He worked at New Venture Gear in East Syracuse and had previously worked as an independent carpet installer and roofer. He was a member of State Street United Methodist Church, Fulton. He enjoyed quarter midget car racing, scuba diving, playing horseshoes, and was a Pop Warner football coach. George was predeceased by his sister, Carolee Sadie Ashby, who died October 31, 1968. Surviving are three children, Sadielyn, Shawna and Dylan Ashby, all of Phoenix; his parents, George and Marlene Ashby of Fulton; a sister, Darlene (Larry) McCann of Phoenix; a brother, Fred (Kathy) Ashby of Fulton; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Calling hours are 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday with services 4 p.m. at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street, Fulton.
