Caroline Matilda "Tilda" Cardwell was born in Grainger County, Tennessee.
Tilda died prior to 1910, as there are no records of her in the 1910 Federal Census.
When Tilda was about 11, her father Richard M. Cardwell moved his children back to North Carolina to stay with is sister. Tilda later returned to TN. Her marriage with Albert Rhederick (or Reddick or Reddix) took place on on August 1, 1857 (she was approximately 22 years old).
As there are no Census records with Tilda and Albert after 1860. It is uncertain if this is the same Albert Reddick that is listed as having died in 1864 as a Prisoner of the Civil War in Camp Douglas. It is also uncertain if Albert was the father of all of Tilda's 5 children (as they kept her maiden name growing up). Florence is the only one who used the name Reddix (as maiden name on her marriage record.)
Caroline Matilda's maiden name was Cardwell. She married a Reddick.
