Early Life: She was born April 19, 1933, to Clisbee and Pearl Agnes Oswald Kimball, in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she was also raised. She attended East High School and the University of Utah.
Life’s Work | Service | Interests: In 1955, she graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and received her diploma from David O. McKay. She took a job in San Francisco and met her husband at a church dance. They were married in 1956 and made their home in Merced, California, where they started their family. They lived in Merced for 16 years and then moved to Provo, Utah. They built a cabin in Brickerhaven at Sundance and have many wonderful family memories from their times together there. She loved to quilt and knit throughout her life and made many afghans, sweaters and quilts which the family still enjoys today. She participated and belonged to different clubs and associations during her life including Lambda Delta Sigma, Fraternity, Nautilus, The Flying Farmers, Silver Slipper Dance Club, and Phile Teras. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served in various callings, including: choir director as well as stake Relief Society and Primary. Music was always an important part of her life. She sang solos in many choirs and concerts and was a member of the Madsen Memorial Choir. During her life, she was able to travel to many different parts of the world. She served a mission with her husband to the Baltic States, Lithuania from 1995 to 1997. She also worked in the Provo Utah Temple from 1999 to 2015. Janice Marilyn Kimball Dean passed away peacefully at home on May 30, 2018.
Survived By: Her husband of 62 years, Dr. Richard Jay Dean; her children: Kendall, Laura, Michael and Marvin; 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: Three of her children: Curtis, Tracy and Jason; her parents; her brothers: Blaine and Lloyd; and her sister, Carlin.
