Josephine "Phinney" Mazzoni, 84, of Bradenville, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, in her home. She was born Nov. 12, 1922, in New Derry, the daughter of the late Phillip and Amelia Ursa Boggio.


She retired from G.C. Murphy Co. of Latrobe where she worked as a clerk for many years. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church of Latrobe. Josephine was a real sports fan, always cheering on her Steelers, Pirates and Penguins.


Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank A. Mazzoni, in 1995; a daughter, Mary Jo Shepler, in 1980, and Frank Jr., in 2006, and her brothers and sisters, Phillip, George, Benny, Teddy, Dave, Sammy, Gene, Millie, Martha, Clara and infant Josephine. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.


She is survived by her children, Angeline (Bill) Mock, of Jeannette, Rose (Bob) Merichko, of New Alexandria, and Toni (Frank) Smith, of Derry; grandchildren, Rena, Jay, Alicia, Bobby, Mary Jo, Nicholas, Ashley, Matthew and Travis; three stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.


Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the P. DAVID NEWHOUSE FUNERAL HOME, corner of Church and Washington streets in New Alexandria, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday with Msgr. Lawrence T. Persico officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Hill Cemetery in Unity Township.
