Born in Spartanburg on July 8, 1939, daughter of the late Almina Corn McDowell and Joseph Lamar McDowell; widow of James Olin "Butch" Terry.
Retired from Flowers Baking Company; was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church where she had been an active member of the JOY Club.
Survivors include a son, Calvin Smith (Sherrie) of Campobello; daughter, Loretta Johnson (Cary) of Campobello; sister, Elsie Poteat (Junior) of Inman, a granddaughter; Kala Johnson-Kind (Charlie) of Inman, three sisters-in-law, Peggy McDowell and Naomi McDowell of Campobello, Ruby McDowell of Boiling Springs, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, predeceased by her brothers; Joseph "JL" McDowell, Carl "Bud" McDowell, Larry McDowell, and Wayne McDowell.
The family received friends Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Seawright Funeral Home.
Funeral services followed at 11:00 a.m. at Seawright Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Bishop and Rev. Dick Keller officiating. Burial was in New Prospect Baptist Church Cemetery.
