She was born in Gaston County, a daughter of the late Alonzo and Annie Hoffman.

Velma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by her children Linda Jenkins and husband Charles of Gastonia, Thomas W. Turner, Jr. and wife Joan of Gastonia, John Turner and wife Sharon of Dallas; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Turner, Sr.; sisters, Edna Kitchen, Ailene Rockett, Lucille Bryant; brother, Coit Hoffman.
