Born April 16, 1895, in Centerville, she was the daughter of Truman L and Lena Maring Allen. She was a lifelong resident of Centerville. She taught for school for a couple of years, and worked for the Iowegian at one time. She and her brother, John, were the former owners and operators of Allen's Gifts and Stationary Store.
She was a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of Centerville, and a member of the Alice Cheney Guild, Alpha Study Club and the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two nephews, Jerry Allen of Centerville and James Allen of Bloomington, Ind., and a sister-in-law, Mildred (Mrs. John) Allen of Centerville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Kendrich and John.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Miller-Wehrle Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Ballard officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight. A memorial to the United Methodist Church choir has been established, and memorial gifts may be left at the funeral home.
