Command Sgt. Maj. Jallah was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 10th Aviation Regiment, 10th Aviation Brigade, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, New York. The 49-year-old soldier died of cancer at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., after being medically evacuated from Afghanistan, via Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, on February 16. Dennis joined the U.S. Army on February 11, 1981. His many assignments included Fort Rucker, Alabama; Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia; and an overseas assignment in Hanau, Germany. Dennis was deployed to Afghanistan on July 19. He leaves behind his wife, Florence, and 10 children.
