Esther (Hester) Ent was born 9 Jul 1758 to Valentine Ent (1730-1779) and Susanna Moor (1737-1840.) Valentine Ent emigrated from Holland in 1733 and was naturalized 20 August 1755. Valentine Ent was a tanner in Amwell Township, Hunterdon Co., New Jersey. He died 25 July 1770. His will dated 1764 names wife Susannah and "brothers Peter More and Daniel More" as executors.

Esther Ent married Daniel Butterfoss in 1772 in New Jersey. Their marriage produced 13 children between 1774 and 1804. Daniel Butterfoss died 5 December 1819 in his 76th year. His will was probated on 15 January 1821.
