April 2018 - Passage. James Deloy Hooton embraced the Kingdom of Heaven unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 playing cards with his wife Carole and best friends Dave and Diane. Born February 10, 1942, he was the son of James L. and Doris Hooton. He married Clara T. Sanchez. Together they raised two daughters, Lisa and Theresa, with lots of love and laughter.

Following Clara's death, he married Carole Belgard April 28, 1997. Together they enjoyed going to Wendover, Nevada, playing cards and spending time with family.

Growing up Salt Lake City with his sister Margie and brothers Leo and Steve, he was known by some as Jim; other knew him as Deloy. A fun loving and full of laughter with a big heart, Jim joined the Air Force when he was 17. A diesel mechanic for IML freight, Jim loved to share stories of his military experience while stationed in the Philippines.

Interest in learning and history, his passion also included camping, fishing and taking rides out to the desert.

His wife, children, step-children, brothers and sister, sister and brother in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends survive. Jim's parents, Clara Hooton, his son in-law Brian Farni, step-son Don Belgard and his sister in-law Marcia Stephenson preceded him in death.

According to The Salt Lake Tribune, a Salt Lake City, Utah newspaper, published April 17, 2018 Jim donated his body to the University of Utah School of Medicine. There was no service.
