Elsie Liliequist Allen, 96, of Louisville, died of natural causes on May 20th, 2018. Elsie was born to Swedish parents, Carl and Hulda Liliequist, on November 3, 1921, in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Danville High School in Danville, Kentucky, in 1939 and received her R.N. degree from the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1945. In 1946, she married Charles E. Allen, Jr., M.D., a surgeon, U.S. Army medical officer, and plant physician at Ford Motor Company's Louisville plants. They were happily married for 59 years and had one son, Chuck, born in 1948. Elsie was a dedicated registered nurse who worked extensively in the nursery at the Kentucky Baptist Hospital. Her nursing skills and devotion helped her husband survive a major heart attack at age 37 and helped her son survive thyroid cancer at age 27. Elsie is survived by her devoted son . Funeral service will be noon Friday at Pearson Funeral Home, 149 Breckenridge Lane. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday and 11:00 a.m. until the time of services Friday at Pearson’s, with burial at Cave Hill Cemetery to follow. SOURCE Pearson's Funeral Home
