Delbert Gene "Del" Weaver of Midwest City, OK, ran into the arms of his Heavenly Father on May 18, 2018, 9:29 PM, at his home at the age of 81. He was surrounded by his family who he loved with every fiber of his being, and they returned that love. Del was born July 10, 1936, in Susank, KS, to Milburn Harper "Mib" & Ora Lee (Cosper) Weaver.
He was a graduate of Crooked Oak High School, Class of 1954. Del married the love of his life, Mary Kathryn "Kathy" Spradlin, on July 15, 1955, in Del City, which began the 62-year love story. Del proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and received an Honorable Discharge for services rendered to his country. He loved his country and was very patriotic and never failed to thank any man or woman in the military for serving our country. Following his military service, he worked as a machinist at J.P. Machine & Tool Company, and then worked at Tinker Air Force Base and retired medically in 1978, at the age of 42, due to being electrocuted during his service time. Del was a true hero in the lives of many, having recovered from this accident with his wife constantly by his side.
Following his retirement, Del took up golf and was an avid golfer and would look forward to his tee-times every week. For 8 years, he was a greeter at Chick-Fil-A in Midwest City, where he was known as "Mr. Del." The owners, Bill & Mary and "the Kids," that worked with him adored him as he did them and working there was one of his greatest passions. He was an active member of Meadowood Baptist Church for 34 years and was ordained and served as a deacon as well as an usher. His love for music never stopped, from growing up singing with his sisters, to being a member of the church choir, singing with his kids, to being a proud member of "Meadowood Country" where he sang and played the guitar, not only at his church home, but at many other churches and functions all over the state.His hobbies included watching old Western movies and TV shows, and golf. Del was an avid OU Sooners, Dallas Cowboys and OKC Thunder fan. He kept his lawn as well as his cars immaculate. Del never met a stranger and would talk to any and every one. Del loved to joke and make people laugh and he was the most complimentary man you could ever meet. People of all ages genuinely loved him. His beautiful and contagious smile captivated all as did his twinkling eyes. Del will be truly missed by everyone who had the honor of knowing and loving him. His first love was his Lord and Savior, his beautiful wife, his "kids," "grands," and "greats. WHAT A LEGACY!!!

He is reunited with his parents, Milburn & Ora Weaver; 4 brothers, Herbert, Doyle, his twin brother, Elbert, and Melvin Weaver; and 1 sister, Evelyn Homan.
A Formal Visitation will be held from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM, Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home, located at 120 South Broadway, in Moore. Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 25, 2018, at Meadowood Baptist Church, 2816 N. Woodcrest Dr., MWC. He will be laid to rest at Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City.Services and arrangements in care of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel.
