Walter was a veteran of the Air Force and was retired as a cryptologist at the US Department of State and enjoyed driving a school bus for the Augusta County Schools. He was a member of the New Hope Fire Department, Hermitage Presbyterian Church and a life long member of the American Legion. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his siblings; Dewey, Harvey, Norman, Lottie, Emma and Doris.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine "Judy" Abbott; children, Kenny (Pat) Abbott and Doug Abbott; grandson, Josh Abbott; brother, Richard (Ruby) Abbott and numerous loving nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Services will be Private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Shenandoah Valley Animal Services, 1001 Mt. Torrey Rd, Lyndhurst, VA 22952.
