Sylvia was born June 29, 1928 in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Hachmann) Stegemann. She was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers with the class of 1946. On August 19, 1970 she was united in marriage to David E. Hennig at Calvary Lutheran Church, Two Rivers. He preceded her in death on August 22, 2005.
Sylvia was involved in many things including being a volunteer for the Two Rivers Senior Center and St. Vincent DePaul of Two Rivers. She was a former president of the V.F.W. Auxiliary #1249 of Two Rivers, former president of the D.A.V., and a former member of the American Legion of Two Rivers. Sylvia had been employed at Hamiltons, J.C. Penney and Mirro before her retirement. She and David moved to Mission Texas after retirement where they lived from 1981 - 2006. Sylvia was the president of the Does Chapter #31 in McAllen, TX.
Survivors include her children: David (Patti) Dose, Mishicot; Kay (Rick) Wirrer, Two Rivers; Cheryl Dahm (special friend Ron), Elkhart Lake; Paul (Tammi) Dose, Manitowoc; one daughter-in-law Larianne Dose, Mishicot; 13 grandchildren; 6 step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Marion Stegemann, Manitowoc; Mildred Stegemann, Two Rivers; as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, husband David Hennig, son James Dose, son-in-law Douglas Dahm, great granddaughter Daisy Dahm, brother Dale Stegemann, father-in-law and mother-in-law Carl & Alma Hennig, step son Douglas Hennig, as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Iry & Valva Hennig, Laurin & Bev Loiselle, Paul Stegemann, Roy Ulrich and Myrtle Ulrich.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the Klein & Stangel Funeral Home, Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Chaplain Jayne Helgevold with cremation to follow the services. Sylvia’s cremated remains will be laid to rest at Pioneer’s Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers at a later date.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
