Early Life: Acel was born May 3, 1925, to John Henry and Rebecca Alice Hartle Haslem. As a child, he was raised on the family farm where he learned the value and benefit of hard work. Acel was drafted into the United States Army during World War II and was awarded a Purple Heart for wounds he received in the Philippines.
Life's Work | Service | Interests: On June 30, 1948, he married Oral Rasmussen in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from Brigham Young University and worked for many years at the Geneva Steel Plant in Orem. A faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Acel served a mission with his wife in Tacoma, Washington, after they retired. He was a dedicated gardener and continued gardening through age 92, for the benefit of sharing his produce with others. He had a great love for his family whom he referred to as his "jewels". He was a faithful husband, father, son, brother and grandparent. He was dearly loved by his large extended family and will be sorely missed. Acel Haslem, of Orem, Utah, passed away May 12, 2018. He was 93.
Survived By: His children, four daughters, two sons, thirty-two grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: His parents and sweetheart, Oral, whom he was anxious to join.
