Patti Palmer
March 8, 1946 - June 15, 2015

Patti Sue Palmer of Snyder, Texas, lovingly known as “Gurma” to her three grandchildren, passed away in Boston, Massachusetts on Monday June 15. Services for Mrs. Palmer will be Friday, June 17, 2015 at 10 O’clock AM at Colonial Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Tommy Culwell officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. She was a tenacious West Texas woman of Christian values and great faith.

Born on March 8, 1946 in Colorado City, Texas, she was diagnosed with a terminal illness at the age of 32 and given three years to live. Patti went on to defeat the disease for more than three decades. She was 69 when the Lord ultimately called her home.

Patti was a wife, a mother, and a grandmother. By trade, she was a teacher who educated children for 37 years and helped shape the lives of countless individuals. She retired from Snyder’s West Elementary in 2004 and spent her remaining years traveling in an RV with her beloved husband, Jim. Together, Patti and Jim explored the United States in their motor home. They saw grizzlies in Alaska, toured the vast national parks of Utah, watched the fall foliage change color in New England, and ascended the mountains of Colorado. They loved every moment of each other’s company, and September 4, 2015 would have been their 50th wedding anniversary.

Patti believed in a gracious God and maintained her faith through years of battling pain and sickness. She was a testament of Christ’s goodness to everyone she met. She taught her sons to pray sincerely, to love family, and to endure tribulation with courage and hope. Her children and grandchildren are reflections of her goodness. They love her more than they can ever express.

Patti has numerous family members who are still living and grieving her departure: Her husband, James (Jim) Palmer of Snyder, TX. Her oldest son, JK Palmer and his wife Nikky, both of Centennial, Colorado. Her youngest son Josh Palmer and his wife Jess, both of Beverly, Massachusetts. Two grandsons, Merik Hughes-Palmer and Jasper Hughes-Palmer. One granddaughter, Matilda Palmer. Two nephews, Corey Harrison and Brian Harrison. One niece, Whitney Ferguson. Several grandnieces and grandnephews. And, of course, all the children she taught over the course of her life.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Jimmy and Billie Harrison of Colorado City, Texas, as well as her younger brother, Jim Harrison of Montrose, Colorado. Today she is laughing with them in paradise, inside a body that can comprehend neither sickness nor pain. Patti meant much to many people, and she meant everything to a few people. Though her family mourns her loss, they know that she is looking upon the face of Jesus and waiting for them on the other side. They will see her in not so long, and what a glorious reunion that will be. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 18, 2015, from 6pm to 7pm at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to :
