Mr. Jimmy Harrison, 81, a life long resident of Colorado City, Texas, died Saturday at his residence. Services were held Wednesday in the First Baptist Church with Dr. Ted Spear, pastor of the church officiating. Burial followed in the Colorado City Cemetery under the direction of Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.

Mr. Harrison was born June 26, 1921 in Mitchell County to J. L. and Georgia Chaney Harrison. He married Billie Margaret Gregory on August 10, 1942 in Corpus Christi. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1997. Mr. Harrison was a painting contractor and a farmer/rancher. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was a member and past chairman of the Mitchell County Soil and Water Conservation District. Mr. Harrison served as a member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank. He also was a 32nd. Degree Mason and a long time member of the Colorado City Lions Club. After graduation from CHS, Mr. Harrison attended Texas A&M and Texas Tech University. Mr. Harrison joined the U.S. Air Force on August 15, 1942 and received numerous medals and citations while making a total of 35 bombing raids over Germany and German-occupied Europe. He attained the rank of Technical Sergeant prior to being discharged on June 26, 1945.

Mr. Harrison is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patti and Jim Palmer of Snyder; five grand grandchildren, J.K. Palmer, Josh Palmer, Cory Harrison, Bryan Harrison and Whitney Lombardo; three great-grandchildren, Haleigh Lombardo, Ragen Lombardo and Magan Harrison; two nephews, Fred Harrison and Richard Harrison; also a special friend, Ms. Roebura Henderson and friend and loyal employee, Luis Salazar.

Along with his wife and parents, a son, Jim Harrison, a brother, Luther "Son" Harrison and a sister, Thelma Harrison, precede Mr. Harrison in death.
