She was employed for over 20 years by the former Augusta State Hospital, and enjoyed ongoing luncheons with the former crew.
Carolyn was a longtime attendant of the Fayette Baptist Church, and her Augusta and Manchester senior groups. Carolyn made friends wherever she went, and enjoyed close relationships with her family and friends. A stranger was a friend she just hadn't met yet.
She was the matriarch of the annual family gatherings, and loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved Golden Retriever, and baby bird.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Lionel Armstrong. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Reed, and husband, Eddie; sons, Kevin Downing, and wife, Diane; and Mark Downing, and wife, Donna. She also leaves sisters and brothers: Patricia Gagne, Doris Cookson, Pamela Dutton, Raymond Brann, Martha Gibson, Dennis Brann and Elizabeth Brann.
