Marvin W. Young, 90, of Cissna Park passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton. He was born October 25, 1927 in Kansas City, MO, the son of Joe and Emma Lehmann Young. Marvin married Dorothy Berg on December 20, 1950 in Buckley and she survives.

Besides his wife, Dorothy Young of Cissna Park, he is survived by two sons, Wayne Young of Watseka and Donald “Red” Young of Cissna Park; one daughter, Beverly (Steve) Kuester of Cissna Park; one brother, Larry (Karla) Young of Buckley; one sister, Elizabeth (Steve) Schivley of Peoria; ten grandchildren, Cindy Mitchell, Jeffery Young, David Young, Travis Young, Tammi Noonon, Jason Kuester, Vanessa Levan, Neal Kuester, Wayne Lee Stafford, and Dorothy Scarbrough; and nineteen great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leslie, William, Robert, and Kenneth; one sister, Wilma Phiffer; one daughter, Connie Whaley; one granddaughter, Michelle Kuester; and two daughter-in-laws, Donna Young and Connie Young.

Mr. Young served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Cissna Park American Legion and Gold Wing Motorcycle Touring Association. Marvin was a life-long farmer and mechanic in the area and enjoyed traveling with his wife on their motorcycle in the lower 48 states as well as in Canada and Newfoundland.

Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Friday, May 11, 2018 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cissna Park. Rev. Tim Hahn will officiate. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Cissna Park with graveside military rites by Cissna Park American Legion.

Memorials may be made to Cissna Park Fire Department, Trinity Lutheran Church in Cissna Park, or family’s wishes.
