DAVIS, BERTHA A., age 97, of Coker Creek, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday evening, May 8, 2018 at her home. In her younger years she loved planting and caring for her flowers, working in the garden and raising peacocks. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially the Inspirations. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Coker Creek Baptist Church. She had a very special place in her heart for her great-niece, Cari Davis Blankenship and her husband, Wayne Blankenship, who took care of Bertha and her late husband, Herbert Davis for over three and a half years, her dearest friend, Jane Irons and Harold and Eloise Hooper, who visited often. She was preceded in death by husband, Herbert Davis; parents, Ben and Susie Ellis; brothers, Fred Ellis, Roy Ellis, Benton “Babe” Ellis, Ed Ellis and JD Ellis; sisters, Clara Payne, Arlie Ellis, Levia Stewart, Geneva Taylor, and Gladys Ellis. Survivors: daughter, Helen Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Lonia and Clifford Davis; several nieces and nephews; and last but not least, her “little man”, Tristen Cook, her great-great-great nephew that she looked forward to coming over and spending Saturday nights with and eating Sunday breakfast together. Funeral 1:00 p.m. Friday, Coker Creek Baptist Church, Rev. Larry Roberts officiating. Interment in church cemetery. The family will receive friends 11:30 am-1:00 pm Friday at Coker Creek Baptist Church. Arrangements by Biereley-Hale Funeral Home, Tellico Plains.
