Mary Stanton is the daughter of Robert Stanton and his wife Mary Lester. For many years this Mary Stanton was erroneously identified as the wife of Peleg Billings in a number of genealogical and historical publications around the turn of the 19th/20th Century. This Mary Stanton married Asa Spicer. She is named in her father Robert Stanton's will as Mary Spicer in 1800. We also find a woman of the appropriate age in the household of her husband Asa Spicer in 1810 Census. Some family trees list her death date as 1791. This date is actually for her daughter the only known child of Mary Stanton Spicer and her husband Asa Spicer. The daughter Mary Spicer was born 21 Aug 1772, married c. 1789-90 to Abiel Roath and died 3 Jan 1791 shortly after giving birth to their only child Nancy Roath who was born 24 Dec 1790.
