Graveside services for Jerry Cecil Watts will be held on Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018 at 11:00 AM with Brother Larry Town officiating. His final resting place is Pettit Cemetery near his home in Keys, OK. He will be escorted to his place of rest by the Patriot Riders and his US Navy honors will be provided by Naval Command Southeast.

Jerry Cecil Watts was born on February 18th, 1931, in Detroit, TX in Red River County, the son of Jerry Freeland and Vivian Elizabeth (Waterman) Watts. Early in life, Jerry experienced the tragedy of losing his father to an accident, leaving him and his four brothers with only their mother to provide and raise the family. The family relocated several times and was living in Haskell, OK when Jerry enlisted into the US Navy following the Korean War.

He served faithfully and honorably as an Electrician Mate Second Class with the Seabees, the Construction Battalion of the US Navy. He earned the National Defense Service Medal and served his country for three years two months and twenty eight days, from 1951 until 1955.

He was released in San Diego, CA, and returned to Texas and began his family, raising one son Jimmy and two daughters, Jeannie and Janet. He was an automotive technician, and knew cars inside and out. There wasn't anything he couldn't fix.

Jerry was a people person, he loved to sit and talk and tell stories. His talents were many and Jerry also built his own home, from start to finish. He was an avid gardener in the summer and loved raising vegetables, especially tomatoes. He had ventured out to the desert on two occasions to search for gold, unfortunately, the desert proved a bit too hostile for mining success. That never stopped Jerry from trying though. Friday nights found Jerry at the Senior Center cutting a rug and dancing with his friends. Jerry loved his wife Reba and his family, and was proud of all of their accomplishments.

He passed from this life on Saturday, June 30th, 2018 at his home in Kays, OK. He was 87 years old. He will be greatly missed. He is preceded in death by his father, mother, two brothers, Jerome and Joe, his grandparents, and his first wife Joan, and his second wife Reba.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Jimmy Watts of Keys, OK, Jeannie Benson and husband Johnny of Texas, and Janet Bullock of Independence, KS. He leaves two brothers, Wayne Watts and wife Lou of Texas and Gene watts also of Texas. He lives on in his seven grandchildren, Jessy Watts, Rose Bullock, Destiny Bullock, Jeremy Truitt, Cory Truitt, Justin Odom and Jason Odom. He also leaves two great grandchildren, Jaxon Watts and Natalie Watts, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and loved ones.
