Robert "Bob" Burns Jr. of Weymouth, died May 1, 2018, at 79 years of age.

Son of the late Robert and Irene Gage.

A lifelong resident of Weymouth, Bob graduated from Archbishop Williams High School and then joined the Navy to serve his country.

A true love story, he married his high school sweetheart, Linda, and together they celebrated 58 loving years of marriage. His greatest joy was in being a father, not only to his own kids but to the many in his extended family that he lovingly took under his wing.

Through his love and tireless support, he raised very accomplished children earning a variety of degrees from an MBA, airline pilot, lawyers, electricians, small business owner and a Full-Bird Colonel. His entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity and zest for life enabled him to realize the American dream.

After serving his country, he started a family, started several thriving businesses, including Hingham Auto Clinic and Instrument Controls and Electronics (ICE), owned multiple residential and rental properties. He also worked at Armstrong World Industries in Braintree and Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.

The world needs more people like Bob Gage. He was always there, willing to lend a hand, tell a story to make you smile or a funny joke to make you laugh. He gave everyone in his very large, extended family a deep sense of love, peace and security. Bob was a bright light who loved unconditionally, generated positive energy, and will be sincerely missed by all who knew and loved him. To know Bob, was to love Bob. "Bumpa", as his grandchildren affectionately called him, will be remembered for his generous, kind, adventurous, happy, easy-going spirit and for enjoying every day to its fullest. His list of passions run long, and taking the annual family trip to Marthas Vineyard, playing piano, music, drawing, golfing and snowmobiling top the list.

Predeceased by his siblings Irene Trainor and James Gage.
