JOHN LEGETTE SELLERS, SR.
HIGH POINT - John Legette Sellers, Sr., 76, went to be with the Lord on Sept. 12, 1996. he had been in declining health several years.

Mr. Sellers was born Jan. 31, 1920 in Adrian, Ga., a son of Jeptha and Albertie Sumner Sellers. He had been a resident of High Point for the past 55 years and retired from Rose Furniture Company as a service manager. He attended Brentwood Baptist Church and was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He was a veteran of World War II, U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theatre, Luzon. He was a Staff Sergeant in the 8th Army, 321st Infantry Regiment, Co. L 81st (Wildcat Division). On Aug. 3, 1940, he was married to the former Wilber Lee ``Lib' Thredgill, who survives of the home.

Also surviving are daughter, Mrs. James (Red) (Patricia Gayle) Beeson of High Point; son, John Sellers, Jr. and his wife, Dana of High Point; sisters, Mrs. Willie Ann Green and Mrs. Aletha Gillett, both of Cheraw, S.C.; brothers, Grady Sellers of Matthews, David Sellers of Florence, S.C., Boyce Sellers of Cheraw, S.C., and Homer Sellers of 29 Palms, Calif.; grandchildren, Rhonda Wilson, Michael Beeson, Jeffrey Sellers and John Sellers, III; great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Beeson.

Funeral will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Brentwood Baptist Church by the Rev. Ron Chapman and the Rev. Bobby L. Loving. Interment will be in the Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cumby Funeral Mortuary on Eastchester Drive tonight from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Beeson, 820 Hickory Chapel Road, High Point.
